2000 year old seed found at bottom of Masada and brought back to life

A seed from a Judaen date palm was found at the bottom of Masada dating back 2000 years.  Researchers have planted it and are observing it with great care and detail to determine if it is female and will produce fruit.  The Judaen date palm once flourished in the Jordan River Valley.

The seed has grown to be a 1.5 metres (5 feet) tall.
